Wood Burned Chargers for Thanksgiving
Learn how to create unique wood burned chargers for your fall tablescape! This would look great on a Thanksgiving table or even as a holiday gift.
Thanksgiving might look a bit different this year, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t deck your table out for the holiday. Even if you keep things simple, adding some decorations and personal touches will make your dinner feel more like a celebration. I’m going to show you how to personalize your table settings with these simple, wood burned chargers!
I cut a 1x12 board into squares, but you could also buy wood squares or circles from a craft store. This would also be a good project to use up scrap wood from your pile if you have one.
Once I had the wood cut and sanded, I added some wood conditioner. This will help the stain go on more evenly. Let the condition sink in for a bit and then wipe off any excess. You are now ready to stain!
Choose a color that will be light enough that the wood burning will show. Use a foam brush to apply the stain or you can also use the Quick Finish paint sprayer. Let it sit for about 10 minutes, then wipe off excess with a paper towel. If it is not as dark as you would like, repeat.
Once the stain has dried, you can wood burn! You can pick up a wood burner at any craft store or on Amazon. They are very inexpensive, and I use mine quite often.
I couldn’t decide if I wanted to personalize them or have a holiday themed word, so I did both! Why not make them reversible?! Then you can use them all year.
Did you know you can use sealers like polyurethane and polyacrylic in the Quick Finish Paint Sprayer? You will get the perfect finish every time! I used polyacrylic for this project.
The smooth, satin finish is perfect for these chargers!
I plan to make a bunch for our small gathering this year. They were so easy to make and I got them done in one afternoon. It is something even your kids could help with.
What are your plans for Thanksgiving this year?
